Marvin Tweedy, Friends Coastal Restaurant
Marvin was brought up in a restaurant environment hailing from the rich seafood culture of New Orleans, Louisiana. He has worked for some of the upper echelon establishments such as Christian's Restaurant, Cuvee of New Orleans and rural establishments located in Buck Town, the heart of the seafood country.
He attended and graduated from the Culinary Arts Institute of Louisiana in Baton Rouge in 1989 while working for the Country Club of Louisiana. Upon leaving Baton Rouge he relocated to Covington, Louisiana and took on the Chef de Cuisine position at The Dakota Restaurant where he maintained that position for 12 years. He was recruited by Etoile restaurant owner & renowned French Quarter artist James Michalopoulos. He remained the Executive Chef there for two years before moving to Annadeles Plantation, a three hundred seat restaurant. As Executive Chef he implemented a private chef's tasting kitchen along with seasonal menus complimenting fresh local ingredients.
Known for his progressive southern cuisine he now resides as the Corporate Chef for Friends Coastal Restaurant and Amis Primehouse, both located in St. Tammany Parish Louisiana. He is a true student, teacher and community leader who believes in fostering a rewarding environment for all his apprentices. Marvin has demonstrated these abilities through his passion of food and a following of both patrons and employees.
